NEW PARTNER: Nature Broking and UK Nature-Based Offsets

UK Nature-Based Carbon Removal

We are excited to announce our new partnership with Nature Broking, who have facilitated the launch of our first UK nature-based carbon offset project, Beech Estate, set in the stunning East Sussex countryside.

This pioneering initiative is transforming traditional farmland into a thriving ecosystem, capturing carbon, restoring biodiversity, and leading the way in sustainable land management. Developed in partnership with Beyond Zero and verified under the UK Carbon Code of Conduct (UKCCC), Beech Estate offers a unique opportunity for businesses to invest in high-integrity carbon offsets while supporting nature restoration.

What is the Beech Estate project?

Beech Estate is an ambitious project that redefines the relationship between farming and nature. Historically arable farmland, this land has been repurposed to maximize carbon sequestration and enhance biodiversity through a series of regenerative interventions. The key initiatives include:

  • Wildflower meadow restoration. Using an innovative green hay gathering technique, wildflower seeds have been dispersed across former arable fields, creating expansive wildflower meadows. These meadows serve as crucial habitats for pollinators and other wildlife while improving soil carbon storage.
  • Hedgerow expansion. Hundreds of kilometers of hedgerows have been planted along ancient field boundaries. As these hedgerows mature, they act as natural carbon sinks and provide vital corridors for wildlife movement.
  • Enhanced woodland management. Through selective felling and natural regeneration, the estate is optimising carbon removal within its woodlands. This is monitored with cutting-edge LIDAR technology to track growth and sequestration rates.
  • Organic and regenerative farming. Beech Estate has transitioned to organic and regenerative farming, integrating livestock into arable systems to promote healthier soils and increased carbon storage.
  • Future Innovations. Looking ahead to 2025, the estate plans to introduce wetland creation in low-productivity areas, agroforestry techniques, and enhanced rock weathering to further increase its climate resilience and carbon sequestration potential.

The Benefits: Carbon and Biodiversity

Beech Estate is not just about reducing carbon—it is about restoring balance to the ecosystem. By implementing nature-first farming practices, this project delivers dual benefits:

Carbon sequestration

  • The conversion of arable land to diverse, carbon-rich meadows enhances soil carbon storage.
  • Newly planted hedgerows and well-managed woodlands act as long-term carbon sinks.
  • Regenerative agricultural practices further lock in carbon while promoting resilient food systems.

Biodiversity gains

  • Wildflower meadows support over 34 species of butterflies and countless rare insects and invertebrates.
  • An interconnected mosaic of habitats provides food and shelter for key predator species, including the hobby, buzzard, kestrel, sparrowhawk, and barn owl.
  • The reintroduction of natural farming systems encourages a healthy balance between wildlife and agriculture, ensuring long-term ecological sustainability.

How is the project verified?

Integrity and transparency are at the heart of Beech Estate. That’s why it is verified under the UK Carbon Code of Conduct (UKCCC), a gold-standard framework for UK-based carbon removal projects. The UKCCC ensures that projects deliver real, measurable climate impact through rigorous monitoring, community engagement, and ecosystem restoration.

The key features of UKCCC verification:

  • Science-backed carbon removal through soil carbon sequestration, habitat restoration, and regenerative agriculture.
  • No greenwashing – every tonne of carbon removed is rigorously verified to ensure credibility.
  • Dual impact – addressing climate change while actively restoring UK ecosystems.
